Many people recognise PPC and SEO as powerful marketing techniques and a lot of marketers will use one or sometimes both methods to drive traffic to their sites.
However, the evolution of search marketing has blurred the lines of PPC and SEO and they are increasingly becoming very similar in practice and execution. People may disagree but I routinely find myself conducting very similar types of work for both types of projects mostly due to quality scoring.
Due to this, My team and I began developing “PPCSEO” sites. These are sites which rank highly in search engines and also have high quality scores and low costs on pay per click. We figured that with PPCSEO would could reduce the risk to our traffic sources while increasing our capacity to profit.
So what are PPCSEO sites?
PPCSEO sites are content rich sites which target low competition longtail keywords using keyword research usually applied PPC strategies. For example, let’s say you have a site about iPods. Instead of building a few pages about “using ipods”, “ipod accessories”, “ipods for sale” and all that usual junk, you would target actual ipod models, specs (i.e. 1gb, 8gb, etc) and colours. You would create and follow basic SEO onpage factors for each of these variations and add common words such as “buy”, “for sale”, “used”, “cheap” to descriptions, titles and meta tags. What you are aiming for ehre is to have some nice targeted pages with content and low competion in the search engines. As an example, one of our recent sites had 23 pages, the home page targeted 3 high traffic and competive keywords and the rest targeted 4 keywords each. So in total we were optimised for 91 keywords. Now if each of these keywords brough in just 5 unique visitors each day, we would have 455 daily uniques. Within one week, around half of our site was indexed and bringing in an average of 80 visitors per day.
Your site could pull products from an affiliate datafeed or you could just do it by hand with cloaked affiliate links, it’s up to you. Analytics are key and you will need to have google analytics or another tracking program to gain information on visitors and keyword conversions. Analysing stats also helps you to know what your visitors are searching for so that you can expand your site more effectively.
Before spending money on PPC, I would recommend getting some links and organic traffic first. Most people think organic traffic takes months to achieve but this is simply not true. Within one week you could be indexed and ranking in Google, Yahoo and MSN.
Getting links is not that difficult. A combination of directory submissions, social bookmarks and blog comments will give your site a good foundation of links and be enough for it to get indexed and ranked. Don’t worry if this sounds like hard laborious work because my next post “The important of Team Work in Internet Marketing” will explain how to get all of this done in double quick time.
After you have some visitors, you will probably get one or two sales. At this point I would make sure everything is working correctly and the pages are optimised for high conversions before using PPC (testing colours, layouts etc).
When you want to ramp up your traffic and sales, it’s time for PPC. Due to the way you’ve built your site (each page targeting specific keywords) and the fact that you have a readymade keyword list - PPC becomes a joy with no quality score to worry about. All you have to do is write and test some ads for each page and put the keywords they are targeting into the adgroup.
In my next post, I will reveal how to get all this work done quickly and efficiently. If you have any questions, just leave a comment below.
I’ve been busy creating some new Adsense sites and I thought i’d share some thoughts on this blog about my experiments. In the past month, I’ve began diversifying my Internet Marketing strategy and one of the changes I’ve made is to cut down on Arbitrage sites and focus more on SEO.
I’ve gathered over 500 articles (Private Label) across 15 niches and have started putting the sites together using blogger and wordpress blogs and XsitePro for speed. Each site has about 30 pages targetting long tail keywords and one of the tasks that I’d have to overcome was getting the sites indexed quickly (within 48 hours).
It’s been one year since I last built a proper Adsense niche site and, as such, I had to learn about any new techniques to get indexed ranked quickly into the major search engines. Finding information on this was not very difficult. Most of my knowledge came from reading blog, forums, past experience and my own experiments.
Here are some of my findings:
- Websites in niches with over 1 million competition took longer to index than those that had less competition. The sites that had below 1 million competing websites (keyword without the quotes) took less than 48 hours to index into Google using my methods (explained later). An example of this is the “Stress Management” niche versus “Tennis Racquet Stringing Machines”.
- MSN is very easy to rank for keywords using just article submissions. I achieved top 3 rankings for a variety of keywords.
- Google indexed my sites quicker than Yahoo and Msn. Google took approximately 48 hours whereas MSN and Yahoo can take up to one week.
- The Title tag is very important for keyword ranking purposes. Your keyword should always be in the Title.
- After some of my sites got indexed in Google, pages from my sites started to show up for long tail keywords, most of them on page 2.
- Blogger blogs did not rank better than wordpress or xsitepro built sites.
- Submitting sites using just OnlyWire did not get any sites indexed within 48 hours.
- Submitting sites to Netscape indexed some sites within 48 hours.
How I Got Indexed
I knew that getting indexed was all about getting links but the problem was how to generate lots of links in a short space of time. I had always went down the article writing route in the past, but writing articles was boring and one of the main reasons why I stopped creating Adsense sites to focus more on arbitrage.
For this experiment, I used a combination of the following methods:
- Submitted stories to Netscape
- Bookmarked to OnlyWire
- Submitted one article to Article Marketer
- Outsourced directory submissions (at DigitalPoint Forums)
- Used Comment Hut to comment on Blogs
Using the methods above, all of the pages on my site were indexed by Google and some of them are beginning to show on MSN and Yahoo. I’m seeing a small trickle of traffic going to my newly built sites and I’m confident that I’ll be able to grab some good keyword rankings with more backlinks.
Steps For The Future
I realise that to be efficient at ranking and indexing, more control is needed. Due to this, I’ll be aiming to create (and purchase) a network of high PR blogs and sites that they can be used to link to new sites so that they can be indexed quicker.
Final Thoughts
Overall, it was a nice experience going back to creating Adsense sites. With more PLR sites than ever before, finding content for a site is easy. Hopefully after few more weeks of linkbuilding, I’ll be able to see some Adsense and Affiliate earnings from my 15 new sites.
If all goes well, I’ll begin developing a more efficient system for indexing and ranking in search engines using long term whitehat strategies.
Automating SEO promotions should be a goal for many internet marketers and lately I have been working on my own system to help get my sites indexed and ranked quickly. Naturally, a post on Digerati Marketing intrigued me as they are planning to release a suite of SEO tools in November. Here are the features so far:
Link Backrub - This tool will increase your backlinks massively by scouring the Internet for sites that link to you, that are not indexed in search engines. Any links it finds to your site, which are not indexed by Google, it will get them indexed - almost instantly, thus letting Google see all of your backlinks. This will of course, improve your rankings.
Flashdex - This tool will get ANY page indexed in Google within 1 hour - guaranteed.
Social Storm - This neat little bit of script can get a single page - or multiple pages socially bookmarked on the top 20 social bookmarking and tagging sites over 190 times, automatically, from different IPs at random times over the course of weeks. This can give you massive traffic boosts.
StumbleXchange Automator - StumbleXchange is a great site, but it takes so damn long! This downloadable program will automate the entire process for you! No more hours of stumbling other peoples pages, just click and go to sleep!
Link Buster - My favourite tool - This tool will build you over 100 relevant links per month, to any page requested - and it’s not blackhat!
All of this sounds great and on first look it sounds very similar to the SQUIRT private membership but with a bigger focus on getting search engine rankings.
Quickest Way to Generate Free Targeted Traffic for Your Niche Sites
Diposting oleh maulana Label: SEOI was reading a few posts on a forum today and noticed a post where someone was asking what is the fastest way to get traffic so I thought I would share my answer here:
PPC is a great way to get traffic but it actually is not the quickest way to get traffic or the least expensive. The quickest way to generate free targetted traffic is using forum posting.
The great thing about forum posting is that it does not take long at all and it can be completed in as little as one hour. All you need to do is a quick search on Google or Yahoo to find forums related to your site and then make up a nice signature for your posts before you start posting. For example, if you have a site about Carpal Tunnel, find some carpal tunnel and health related forums - there’s plenty of them.
If you’re targeting a big forum, most posts will get a few hundred views and making a few posts per day at several forums will definately get some eyeballs to your site. In fact, I’ve been able to get more than 200 uniques per day on day 1 of a brand new site from just forum traffic - and these people buy and click on adsense as long as you have great content.
Tip: Make sure you include relevant anchor text in your forum signature. Apart from getting fast traffic, posting on forums is good for getting your sites indexed and ranked too. After each post, social bookmark them (use OnlyWire or BookMarking Demon) to get them noticed by the search engines faster.
